Patient Stats: Female, 38 years old, the office staff. Complaints: The sensation of foreign body in throat for two months. Recent two weeks the sensation of foreign body in throat became serious, the sensation of phlegm blocked in throat, coughing, could not spit out, and could not swallow either. She felt depression because of family issue. The examination of M.D., found no organic disease. Chinese Medicinal Assessments: TCM Diagnosis: plum-stone syndrome, stagnation of the liver qi and the spleen. Treatment: acupuncture Rn23, LI4, Pc6, Lr3, and St40 points, with Chinese medicine of soothing the liver, promoting flow of qi, and resolving mass and phlegm. After two weeks treatment, the syndrome was notably improved, the sensation of foreign body in throat was remitted. To continue treatment for three weeks, completely cured.
